How Points Work
SOTA summit points are based on prominence and elevation. Higher, more prominent peaks award more points. Activating a summit earns you its point value (after completing the minimum four valid QSOs), and chasers earn points for each unique summit contacted. Points can only be claimed once per summit per calendar year.
1-3
Lower peaks
Hills and accessible summits, ideal for first activations.
4-6
Mid-range
Moderate hikes with rewarding operating positions.
8-10
High summits
Significant peaks requiring planning and fitness.
